DESCRIPTION:

The Giménez Lorente Foundation is an educational, cultural, scientific and research promotion entity dedicated to the study of cartographic, bibliographic and Cartographic Engineering funds. In addition, it organizes exhibitions of its collections, carries out publications, promotes conferences and imparts teaching with the purpose of spreading the legacy of its founder and contributing to the enrichment of art and knowledge.

Luis Giménez Lorente (Valencia, 1920-2006), a pharmacist by profession, was a collector and researcher who always tried to transmit his knowledge and expand historical cartography. Discoverer of the Atlas of Joan Martines of 1570, who was the cartographer of King Felipe II, was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universitat Politècnica de València. In 2003 he donated his funds to this university.
