This museum preserves more than 750 artifacts of technological heritage related to telecommunications of XIX, XX and XXI centuries.
The collection includes telegraphy, telephony, audiovisual equipment, radio communications and electronic laboratory equipment. Part of the collection (more than 350 items) is exhibited in the Telecommunications Engineering School following a thematic and chronological itinerary. The Museum shares the space with the Engineering School and permeates the students and professors teaching and researching activities. The Museum also preserves a collection of audio recordings in wax cylinders for phonograph and gramophone disks.
One of the main actions that the Museum is taking for dissemination and research is the use of new technologies: augmented reality, virtual reality, audio processing, as well as the digitalization and online access of the audio collection. The conservation of the technological heritage carried out in the Museum is very specific, since the materials and procedures are different from the ones of other museums and collections.
In the visit all these aspects will be presented and discussed.
