THE BUS WILL BE WAITING AT THE «OUTSIDE VALÈNCIA VISITS BUS STOP» BEHIND THE BELLAS ARTES BUILDING, AS SHOWN ON THE CONFERENCE GUIDE. THE BUS WILL LEAVE AT 15:30.

The visit will focus on the mural painting programme of the Golden Gallery of the Ducal Palace of Gandia, executed in the 17th century by the Valencian painter Gaspar de la Huerta. The activity will provide an insight into the technical and stylistic characterisation of the paintings, evaluate and diagnose the pathologies they presented and determine the criteria and work methodology developed for their conservation and restoration.

The intervention, conducted by the University Institute of Heritage Restoration of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, in collaboration with the «Palau Ducal dels Borja, Fundació de la Comunitat Valenciana» foundation, made it possible to halt the advanced state of deterioration and degradation of the works, to treat the damage to the paintings, to restore them to their physical-mechanical resistance and recover their legibility.

These works have contributed, in short, to the enhancement of an extremely valuable heritage asset for the city of Gandia and the Valencian cultural heritage.

Observations: Please, note that this visit takes place in Gandia, outside València. The attendants will be transferred to the place by bus for free. The transfer will last around 1,5 hours.
