Background in polymer chemistry with focus on paper-based heritage conservation. Conservation scientist at the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage (1997-2003) and ICCROM (2005-2008). International work on of risk management for cultural heritage since 2005, including new methodologies and tools, capacity development, research, and awareness. Back at ICCROM since 2018, currently managing the Strategic Planning Unit and a portfolio of projects on heritage collections, risk management, and sustainable development. Member of the editorial board of Restaurator – International Journal for the Preservation of Library and Archival Material.
