OFF-PROGRAM
During this guided tour, hosted by Guggenheim Bilbao Museum’s conservators, visitors will have the opportunity to enter the less-known areas, such as the museum’s loading dock, oversize elevator, technical facilities, and artwork storages, reproducing the same route towards the galleries as a real masterpiece, and feeling just like a real one!
This will include a stopover at the conservation lab, where we will share explanations about preventive conservation and treatment processes currently carried on. We will highlight our time-based media conservation project, initiated six years ago, exemplified by specific case studies.
Visitors will enter hidden areas like the basement, where Fujiko Nakaya’s F.O.G. Sculpture’s pump system is located, as well as the inside of Puppy, where they will get to know the details of its new and more sustainable remote watering and maintenance system. They will also have the chance to know about our other last sustainable measures such as LED lighting.
Please be aware: to attend the visit, participants must pay a fee to cover the transport from Valencia to Bilbao. The return flight to Valencia is not included in this fee, so each attendee can decide whether to return to Valencia or book their return flight home from Bilbao.
