TECHNICAL VISITS

V31 – Collection and programme

IVAM - Institut Valencià d’Art Modern
DESCRIPTION:

THE VISIT WILL START AT 16:30. THE MEETING POINT WILL BE IVAM, CARRER GUILLEM DE CASTRO, 118, 46003 València.

The IVAM (Institut Valencià d’Art Modern) was inaugurated in 1989 in the centre of the city of Valencia. Its permanent collection is the epicenter of the museum and constitutes a fundamental basis of its programme. This collection has two pillars in the figures of Julio González (1876-1942) and Ignacio Pinazo (1849-1916), as well as other great works and representative authors of the 20th and 21st centuries, which allow to trace a historical-artistic panorama of modernity and the contemporary.

Today’s IVAM seeks to build an artistic place of reference, inhabited and habitable, committed to society, as well as to research, publishing and mediation. Developing it with a relational, inclusive and collaborative methodology, with an awareness of all those people who have not been part of the definition of the modern museum, whether for reasons of class, racism or discrimination, gender or sexual orientation.
